..to import a brand new one of these to the US. Can it even be done?
![]() 12/17/2014 at 13:28 |

you can buy one, store it for 25 years and then import it. lol
![]() 12/17/2014 at 13:29 |

I want it now though!!!

Problem is, I think it's too expensive, even before importing it. I don't need a 500HP tire shredder. I want a car with a pickup bed. Sell it with a V6 for $25k and you've got my ear.

Forged papers to show that you're a diplomat from a country that sells them, as well as paying people off to vouch for you and/or starting a new life as said fake diplomat, then importing the Ute on that premise, will probably set you back about 500k (disclaimer: I pulled that number out of my ass. It's probably more.)

If you have enough cash, it can be done right here in Denver, Colorado. http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/how-australias…

![]() 12/17/2014 at 13:41 |

you can no longer import RHD cars, at least in some province.
Better move to Australia.
![]() 12/17/2014 at 13:43 |

Haha is it, though? I mean, you could buy a bigger house and a supercar instead...
![]() 12/17/2014 at 13:43 |

I would totally do this if anything ever happened to my pontiac. It's just too clean to cut into right now.

true I forgot about that, here in quebec you can no longer import them. But Holdens aren't the cars imported here anyways, Only RHD cars I see here are japanese cars, and mostly Nissans.

So the question is, how much does the show n shine exemption actually cost besides purchase price.
Where is Billy Gates?
![]() 12/17/2014 at 14:59 |
|
You're looking at anywhere between $51k - $57k (USD) for the purchase price alone.
![]() 12/17/2014 at 15:02 |
|
oh dang. I was thinking between 40 and 48K in USD.
![]() 12/17/2014 at 15:20 |
|
62k AU up to 69k, depending on base Maloo or R8. That's off carsguide, so the real world price would more then likely be higher.
![]() 12/17/2014 at 15:24 |
|
oh wow. Didn't know that.
![]() 12/17/2014 at 15:29 |
|
Give it another few months, we'll drop from 1 usd = 80c AU down to 50c and you can by all the Maloos you want.

Couldn't it be imported not for road use. Like, if you were only to use it at track days and the like?
![]() 12/17/2014 at 17:41 |
|
You'd have to find a G8, cut the back off, and weld on the necessary parts of the Ute, making sure to keep the G8's VIN (and enough of the G8 to keep the VIN legal).
![]() 12/17/2014 at 18:07 |
|
yeah that's true. Didn't think about that
![]() 12/17/2014 at 18:07 |

![]() 12/18/2014 at 02:58 |
